Fire Protection Contractors Liability and Indemnity Insurance

It might be hard to believe, but providing solutions to prevent losses from a fire can carry its own risks – Especially for fire protection contractors. Poor advice given to your client or an accident on site could have serious repercussions for your business.

As a fire protection contractor, you understand the importance of providing your clients with a high-quality service that meets their safety needs. However, even with the best safety measures in place, accidents can happen, and if they do, you need to be prepared. That’s where liability and indemnity insurance comes in.

Compare Fire Protection Liability and Indemnity Insurance

As specialists in Liability and Indemnity Insurance, at Clarke Williams, we provide fire protection contractors like you with the insurance coverage they need to protect themselves and their clients in the event of accidents, injuries, or property damage. We recognise the complexities of the fire industry and understand the challenges of finding the right cover which not only protects your assets and staff but also complies with industry contract requirements and regulations. The work you undertake is complex at times but your insurance solution doesn’t have to be.

Our insurer partners provide specialist insurance for fire contractors, giving you the peace of mind your business is covered should a loss arise as a result of injury to members of the public, damage to your client’s property, injury to employees whilst on site or worst of all your product or service failing.

Who needs cover?

Our clients include fire protection specialists (whether working as the main contractor or subcontractor to the principal), specialist suppression engineers carrying out design activities and those in high-risk locations including data centres, manufacturing plants, power plants and fire protection contractors.

We can provide indemnity and liability insurance quotes for the following trades:

  • Fire alarm contractors
  • Fire sprinkler system contractors
  • Smoke alarm installers
  • Portable and fixed extinguisher installers
  • Emergency lighting
  • Passive fire protection including intumescent spraying
  • Security Contractors

Clarke Williams has been a God Send this past year.As residences of a small apartment block we decided to form a RTM and desperately needed help and support in finding the correct building insurance, especially as one of our apartments is a holiday let.Oliver... Boatwright-Smith was knowledgeable, supportive and effortlessly professional and kind through the entire process. We are extremely pleased with the level of cover and the premium Oliver was able to get for us.A few short months later and unfortunately we had to make a claim due to escape of water in one of the properties. As the resident of the property in question has health conditions this made assessment of the damage and completion of works rather tricky.Oliver was consistently marvellous in supporting the resident, helping to guide them and us through what was for us an unknown process.Without all of his help we would not of known or understood our rights or been able to reach an appropriate settlement while ensuring we are still able to get a decent premium when we renew later this year.Insurance is necessary, it cannot be avoided but to find a company and an employee within that company who fully meets and exceeds our needs and expectations is priceless.read more

    Types of Cover

Public and Products Liability Insurance offers protection for bodily injury to third parties or property damage that may occur during your daily activities, such as damage to a client’s property or nearby premises while performing work. At Clarke Williams, we offer Public Liability limits ranging from £1,000,000 to over £10,000,000 to suit your specific needs.

Employers Liability Insurance covers you for liability arising from employees who sustain an injury or illness during the course of their employment with you. It is a legal requirement for all employers within the UK to hold this cover and the minimum statutory limit is £5,000,000, however, most insurers provide £10,000,000 as standard.

You may need Employers Liability Insurance for someone who works for you if:

    • You deduct national insurance and income tax from the money you pay them
    • You have the right to control where and when they work and how they do it
    • You supply their work materials and equipment
    • Your contract states that you are responsible for their actions and supervision of such

Contract Works Insurance provides coverage for construction work during the construction period before it is handed over to the principal or employer upon practical completion. In the event of an insured event such as fire, flood, storm, vandalism or theft, it can cover the cost of repairing or redoing work in progress, including both permanent and temporary works.

Construction Professional Indemnity Insurance, also known as Design and Construct Professional Indemnity, protects contractors and subcontracted specialists, such as lighting or fire suppression designers, from allegations related to errors in their work or incorrect design. This insurance also covers rectification costs required to correct any issues that occurred during construction or in the design phase.

Additionally, we offer insurance for Hired In Plant, Own Plant, Tools, and Commercial Fleet.

What’s included? – The specialist Extensions

At Clarke Williams, we offer a range of extensions to our liability insurance that aren’t typically included in generic policies. These extensions provide additional coverage to protect your business from a variety of risks.

    Efficacy coverage

Efficacy coverage protects you in the event that a service or product fails to fulfil its intended function, resulting in damage or loss to property. For example, if a fire alarm or sprinkler system fails, causing damage to a client’s property, Efficacy coverage would help cover the costs.

    Defective Workmanship coverage

This protects you in the event that faulty workmanship causes damage or injury. This coverage specifically excludes damage to the part that was being worked on or supplied.

    Financial Loss Extension

his extension provides coverage for pecuniary losses or expenses sustained by a third party as a result of a defect or unsuitability of works, which do not cause bodily injury or property damage. This helps protect you from financial losses that may result from a mistake or error on your part.
